After a lifetime working, I’m finally able to devote more time to photography, and without all the old problems of chemicals, spillages, and darkrooms.

There’s a distinct trend in city developments to do away with “old” buildings, and replace them with modern ones. Unfortunately this destroys the ambiance of the very city the architects are supposed to be “improving”.

I’m putting this site together to try to document what we are in danger of losing – the buildings and architecture that makes Adelaide the city it is. Unfortunately we have already lost many building that were a link to our past – not only our colonial past, but more recent eras, like the Art-Deco period in the early 20th century. The header picture will change from the beach at Largs Bay to Mannanarie, not much more now than a railway siding, near Laura, in the Mid-North of South Australia.

Hopefully, this site will enable you to look back at what Adelaide used to look like. As the Premier Don Dunstan used to call it, “The Athens of the South”.
